Having A Blast In The Midwest!

Since crossing the Ohio River yesterday, the temps have been climbing! We arrived at Yogi Bear's Camp Resort in Knightstown, Indiana where it climbed over 100F today. Fortunately we had a pool and our campsite was spectacular. We had a corner lot with a big maple tree for shade and lots of grass. We spent the day swimming in the pool.....so refreshing!








We are excited for the holiday but doubtful the fireworks can compete with thunder and lightning storms in this area...truly spectacular!









We are one week into our trip and are almost half way to Montana, which is our final destination for the summer. 

Spending a day in Illinois tomorrow and then onto Iowa for the holiday. Will set up camp through the long weekend and travel around to see the sites.

Bentley will miss Yogi and Boo-Boo but more adventures lie ahead.

    The heat just broke here with a nice cooling rain. Humidity was crazy. How’s the heat out there?

With a break in the weather, we continued our journey across middle America passing thru the “Land of Lincoln” and crossing over the Mighty Mississippi. We imagined what it would be like to paddle our Minnesota II canoe on it someday…Yikes! Our westerly trek brought us to Amana, Iowa, where we planned to relax and enjoy the holiday. With the temps still in the 90’s, Bentley opted to catch up on some ZZZZZZ’s in the IBEX while we made our way north to Cedar Rapids. Years ago, Dawn’s Dad played minor league baseball as a pitcher in this area. It was here her Mom and Dad were married and the rest is history. We had great fun tracing back to where it all began. Adjacent to the ball park, was the All-Veteran’s Memorial where Brad (Sgt Krog) took the opportunity to pay his respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
