Grand Teton National Park & Yellowstone National Park

Leaving Montana, we headed southeast through Idaho and into Wyoming to visit the Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park. Captivated immediately by the stark, rugged beauty of the Teton range and the amazing diversity of Yellowstone’s geographical features, we knew saying goodbye to this paradise would not be easy.

There are 84 named mountains in the Teton Range, with the Grand Teton peak reaching 13,770 feet.  Supposedly, it's one of the most accessible and fun mountains to hike in the Lower 48. We chose to admire it from below!

Bentley really enjoyed his time here as well, especially the lakes. He loved swimming in Jenny Lake in the Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone Lake in Yellowstone National Park.

To date, Yellowstone National Park has been our favorite park with so much to see including hot springs, geysers, wildlife and beautiful mountains valleys.

If all that wasn’t enough, we had the “No Fear” tourists providing us with lots of excitement as they made every effort to get just a little closer to the bison for the perfect picture. Somehow they missed the one that wandered up behind them!

We made one last stop at the beautiful Mammoth Hot Springs before we made our way toward the park’s northeast gate.

Normally, this is where we’d get sad with the scenery and excitement behind us, but the trip wasn’t quite over as the Bear Tooth Highway paved the way before us. Insanely twisting turns around steep mountain embankments, most without guard rails, brought us higher and higher until we reached the summit. With over twenty peaks rising above 12,000 feet, the Northern Rockies showcased alpine meadows, lakes, and year-round snow and left us with memories of a lifetime.

  1. Gorgeous pictures. Such crisp colors. The mountains caught my eye quickly. Bentley does look pretty happy in the water. That was too funny seeing the bison coming up behind the foolish tourists. I can’t imagine going on that winding road - guard rails only hold so much back!
